Reliance on God

The reflection by Rev. Jeanne Randall-Bodman presented on Sunday, September 20, 2026.

“This story of manna given in the wilderness, Jesus' parable of the generous vineyard owner, they call us to remember our own reliance on God. This is something that is easy to miss when we live in a world of enough.

“We are reliant on our own efforts. We are reliant on our neighbors, on our friends, and those are ways God gives provision to us. God gives enough to us. But sometimes, we forget that there is divine energy behind that enough. We think it is all down to us.

“These stories call us to remember our reliance on God, but they also call us to a reshaping of the world into a place where no one starves, where no one has too much, where everyone has the opportunity to rest, and where all minds are freed from that want, and that worry, to focus on living, on living a life God has given them.”
