Sin

“What I think progressive Christianity has to offer to this moment is the courage to call human errors by their many names: wounded-ness, unwillingness to see, oppression, the sin, the one sin, of not bothering to love. I think progressive Christianity has that to offer; calling things by their names.
“And I also think what progressive Christianity has to offer the world in this moment is forgiveness. Not the forgiveness that is transactional, not the forgiveness that says if you offer so many prayers and if you have so many right thoughts, you can offer those in exchange for God's acceptance. No. The good news that we have to offer is that forgiveness is transformational. The good news is that we are always, already loved by God. We are loved in companionship and compassion, and we can claim it, and we can extend it. We can belong to a weave of fabric made up of companionship and compassion.”
