The Hard Way Forward

A man stands at the entrance to a maze.

The reflection by Rev. Jeanne Randall-Bodman presented on Sunday October 11, 2026.

“We cannot look to golden images to satisfy. We cannot look to words of power and dominance to fill us with God's presence. The hard way forward knows the sense of absence and sometimes doubt, but still chooses to follow the cloud and the fire through the desert landscape of freedom, to joy and compassion.

“Now, in this moment of anxiety, is the moment to stand empty-handed and full-hearted before God. Not bringing anything to prove our worth.

“Now, in this moment of weariness is the moment to turn to each other, to find the face of Christ, and to be empowered by living in that mutual love.”
